Casting method of metal powder injection molding

Metal powder metallurgy is a kind of technology that uses metal powder as raw material to make metal or alloy parts through molding and sintering. The leading manufacturers in the MIM industry can directly produce porous, semi dense or fully dense materials and products by using this technology, so it is widely used.

Preformed blanks are a very important part of powder casting in metal powder metallurgy injection molding (MIM) technology. According to the needs of casting commodities, it is necessary to plan the composition of part data, select materials, plan the shape of parts, determine the casting method, and then enter into the planning of preformed blanks and mold processing. What are the common casting methods for production? Through professional technical experience, Zhongwei Precision has summarized the following casting methods for MIM technology in practical operation.

1. Flap casting: The shape of the preform formed by this casting is relatively simple, and the shape of the part is ultimately obtained by casting. In the process of pier forging, the powder moves laterally until it overflows the mold cavity, and there are a few flash extruded from the mold closing seam near the casting to produce flash, which requires a few subsequent machining.

2. Closed casting without flash: the preform shape of this casting method is also relatively simple. MIM experts found that various casting methods also overflow the mold cavity through the lateral movement of the powder, but the preform component is controlled, and the mold closing pressure is large, so the casting products without flash are finally completed.

3. Hot re pressing casting method: the preform shape produced by this casting method is very similar to the forging method after all, so there is little lateral movement deformation of metal in hot forging. In the closed die cavity, it is mainly the refinement process of axial pure compression, which is regarded as the development of the combination of powder metallurgy hot pressing and cold re pressing technology.

The shrinkage of sintered metal powder injection molding is related to the mold geometry and injection pressure, but it is consistent in the molded products. The above contents are mainly about the casting method of metal powder injection molding, and we hope it can help you
