SUH630 properties

sUH630 alloy is precipitated, quenched, martensitic stainless steel, and this grade has high strength, hardness (up to 800 0 C/5000 C) and corrosion resistance. After heat treatment, the mechanical properties of the product are more perfect, and the compressive strength can reach as high as 1100-1300 mpa (160-190 ksi). This grade cannot be used above 300 0C (572 0F) or at very low temperatures. It has good corrosion resistance to the atmosphere and diluted acids or salts. Its corrosion resistance is the same as 304 and 430.

SUH630 application fields

Offshore platforms, helidecks, other platforms

food industry.

Pulp and Paper Industry

Aerospace (turbine blades)

Mechanical components

Nuclear waste bins.

SUH630 corrosion resistance

The corrosion resistance of SUH630 alloy is better than any other standard hardenable stainless steel plate. In most cases it resists corrosion no less than 304 c.

If there is a risk of stress corrosion cracking, higher curing temperatures must be above 550° C (1022° F), preferably 590° C (1094° F).

Chloride}) the optimum tempering temperature is 550°C- -1022°F.

The best tempering temperature in H2S medium is 590° C-1094° Fo

This alloy is susceptible to pitting or crevice corrosion in static seawater.

SUH630 metal powder injection molded parts have the same corrosion resistance as 304L grade in petrochemical, food processing and paper making industries.

Processing

• Thermoforming

Thermoforming should be performed in the temperature range 950-1200°C (1742-2192°F). A complete heat treatment includes solution annealing, cooling (below 25°C) and aging (at a given temperature).

• Cold forming

Cold forming can only be carried out on the plate in the soft state, and the conditions are relatively strict. After cold working, the stress corrosion resistance can be enhanced by secondary aging at quenching and hardening temperatures.

The processing procedures are as follows: rolling, bending, hydrogen reforming, etc. (in soft state).

• Cutting

Thermal cutting (plasma, sawing, etc.): Cutting procedures for this grade are appropriate taking into account thermally deteriorated parts. After cutting, grinding is performed to remove the oxide layer. Mechanical cutting: shearing, stamping, cold sawing, etc.

• Welding

SUH63O alloy can be used for the following welding: SMAW, GTAW, PAW and GMAW. SA welding can only be carried out after preliminary tests (checking whether there are cracks and the toughness of the weld metal).

Due to the solidification of ferrite, the possibility of thermal cracking and thermal deterioration of the weld metal is reduced.

Generally speaking, no preheating is required, and the intermediate temperature should be controlled at 120°C (248°F). After a complete heat treatment (solution annealing + quench hardening), the toughness will be enhanced.

Due to its own martensitic structure characteristics, the low oxygen content in the weld metal makes it maintain good toughness and ductility. In order to avoid cold cracking, the intervention of hydrogen should be avoided as much as possible.

SUH630 alloy can be welded with the same filler metal (such as E 630 (AWS A5.4)? ER 63O (AWS A5.9).

If the mechanical properties of SUH630 do not need to be considered during welding, austenitic filler metals can also be used without heat treatment afterwards.

• SUH630 machining

We can machine SUH630 alloy in the solution-treated or quenched and hardened state, and the processing conditions vary with the hardness of the material. We usually use high-speed cutters or lubricated carbonized knives for processing. If the customer requires very tight tolerances, we should also take into account possible dimensional changes during heat treatment.
