Wear-resistant Steel Castings
The as-cast structure of high manganese steel is usually composed of austenite, carbide and pearlite, and sometimes contains a small amount of phosphorus eutectic. When the number of carbides is large, they often appear in the form of a network on the grain boundary.
There are many kinds of wear-resistant steel, which can be roughly divided into high manganese steel, medium and low alloy wear-resistant steel, chrome-molybdenum-silicon-manganese steel, cavitation-resistant steel, wear-resistant steel and special wear-resistant steel. Some general alloy steels such as stainless steel, bearing steel, alloy tool steel and alloy structural steel are also used as wear-resistant steel under specific conditions.
Wear-resistant steels include:
1. High manganese steel;
2. Low carbon chrome steel;
3. Stainless steel;
4. High carbon low alloy steel;
5. Medium carbon steel;
6. Medium carbon low alloy steel;
7. Low carbon alloy steel;
8. Chromium molybdenum silicon manganese steel;

Wear-resistant Steel Castings Classification
Wear-resistant steel is a kind of special steel. There are many types of wear-resistant steel. Due to the difference in chemical composition, heat treatment and hardness of wear-resistant steel, its source is very convenient and its performance is excellent, so it has a wide range of uses and is widely used in mining machinery, construction machinery, Agricultural machinery, various building materials, electrical machinery, railway transportation and coal mining and transportation, etc. Before using it, we need to know, what is the difference between different types of wear-resistant steel?
What types of wear-resistant steel can be divided into?
1. High manganese steel
The as-cast structure of high manganese steel is usually composed of austenite, carbide and pearlite, and sometimes contains a small amount of phosphorus eutectic. When the number of carbides is large, they often appear in the form of a network on the grain boundary. Therefore, the high-manganese steel with as-cast structure is very brittle and cannot be used, and solution treatment is required. The commonly used heat treatment method is solution treatment, that is, heating the steel to 1050 ~ 1100 ° C, heat preservation to eliminate the as-cast structure, obtaining a single-phase austenite structure, and then water quenching to keep this structure at room temperature. The strength, plasticity and toughness of the steel after heat treatment are greatly improved.
The grades of high manganese steel and its scope of application:
ZGMn13-1 (C 1.10%~1.50%) for low impact parts
ZGMn13-2 (C1.00%~1.40%) for common parts
ZGMn13-3 (C0.90%~1.30%) for complex parts
ZGMn13-4 (C0.90%~1.20%) for high impact parts
(The manganese content of the above four grades of steel is 11.0% to 14.0%)
2. Medium and low alloy wear-resistant steel
This type of steel has high hardness (Brinell hardness can reach HB500) and is weldable. This type of steel is usually made into steel plates or sections by rolling, and then welded into components. Low alloy steel for use in conditions where wear is the primary failure mode. Mainly divided into low-alloy welding wear-resistant steel, low-alloy wear-resistant steel for construction machinery parts and low-alloy wear-resistant steel for agricultural machinery.
3. Chromium molybdenum silicon manganese steel
Silicon-manganese alloy is an alloy composed of manganese, silicon, iron and a small amount of carbon and other elements. Silicon-manganese alloy is a composite deoxidizer commonly used in steelmaking, and it is also a reducing agent for low-carbon ferromanganese and electro-silicon thermal production of metal manganese in production. Silicon-manganese alloys can be smelted by continuous operation in large, medium and small submerged arc furnaces.
Scope of application:
Chromium-molybdenum-silicon-manganese alloys are mainly used as intermediate materials for deoxidizers and alloying agents in iron and steel production, and are also the main raw materials for medium and low carbon ferromanganese production.
4. Special wear-resistant steel
Steel grades used under specific working conditions, such as impact wear, corrosion wear, high temperature erosion wear, etc.
There are many types of wear-resistant steel. With the continuous improvement of science and technology, various wear-resistant steels have also been continuously improved and developed. The production method of wear-resistant steel parts used in general machinery is not very different from other workpieces, but the requirements for heat treatment technology and surface treatment technology are somewhat different, but they are all to achieve wear resistance. Require. And the requirements for metallurgical purity are also relatively high, preventing harmful substances and gases from polluting the air when wear-resistant steel is used.
