The difference of emperature resistant POM injection molding parts
1. The difference between different types of POM
POM is divided into copolyformaldehyde and homopolyformaldehyde
(1) Copolyformaldehyde is more flexible than homopolyformaldehyde.
(2) Copolyformaldehyde is better than homopolyformaldehyde in hot water resistance and alkali resistance.
(3) The melting point of homopolyoxymethylene resin is about 10°C higher than that of copolyoxymethylene resin, and the heat distortion temperature is also higher.
(4) Homopolyacetal resin has higher rigidity, better mechanical properties such as fatigue resistance, repeated impact and abrasion resistance than copolyformaldehyde resin.
(5) Among the general grades, the weather resistance of copolyformaldehyde is slightly better than that of homopolyformaldehyde.
2. The temperature resistance of POM
There are still many types of POMs that can withstand temperatures above 120 degrees, and there are those that do not add fiber. So how much temperature can POM withstand?
(1) Homopolyoxymethylene non-modified POM
Melting point 175°C, softening point: 160°C, heat distortion temperature HDT: 165°C, so the short-term heat resistance of homopolymer POM is more than 10°C higher than that of copolymerized POM, which can reach 120 degrees, but the long-term heat resistance of copolymerized POM is more than average. Poly POM is about 10°C higher. Can be used for a long time in the temperature range of -40℃~100℃
If it is specially modified (glass fiber reinforced, mineral fiber reinforced), it can reach about 150
(2) Copolyformaldehyde non-modified POM
The melting point is: melting point 165°C, softening point: 150°C, heat distortion temperature HDT: 155°C, in summary, the high temperature resistance of POM is about 110°C, the long-term heat resistance of POM is not high, but it can be used in the short term. up to 160°C, do not exceed the softening point
Conclusion: The temperature resistance of the copolymerized polyoxymethylene POM is 110 degrees, the temperature of the homopolyoxymethylene POM is 120 degrees, and the long-term working temperature range of the POM is -50 °C to 100 °C. The long-term use temperature of modified POM is between -60 and 160 degrees.
