New development trend of powder metallurgy industry in china
1. Development trend of powder metallurgy industry:
(1) Development trend of international powder metallurgy industry

Since the second half of 2020, the powder metallurgy industry has experienced substantial fluctuations in the prices of raw materials such as copper, nickel, molybdenum, chromium and steel, and has experienced the severe test of the global financial crisis. Especially in developed countries and regions such as Europe and the United States, the powder metallurgy industry has been greatly impacted by related industries, especially the automobile industry.
According to the statistics of relevant powder metallurgy associations, the output and sales of powder metallurgy in Japan will decrease by 33% year on year in 2021. In the first three quarters of 2021, the powder metallurgy output in Europe decreased by 39% year on year, while in the first three quarters of 2021, the iron based powder metallurgy output in the United States decreased by 34% year on year, 44% lower than the same period in 2008.
On the other hand, according to the data of the International Powder Metallurgy Conference held in Washington, USA in June 2020, the powder metallurgy industry in Japan and Europe has maintained a growth trend as of 2019. In 2019, Japan's powder metallurgy output reached 119000 tons, an increase of 4.1% year-on-year for six consecutive years. The amount of iron powder for powder metallurgy in Europe has increased for three consecutive years, reaching 190000 tons in 2007, up 11.4% year on year. In 2017, the US powder metallurgy output decreased slightly for the third consecutive year, reaching 328,000 tons in 2019, a year-on-year decrease of 3.3%. The reason is that with the development of industry, powder metallurgy parts are mainly used in the automobile industry. The development of powder metallurgy technology has expanded its application in the automotive field. At the same time, due to energy price factors, small cars in North America, Japan and other countries have gained more market share than before. However, Toyota's recent quality problems in the United States may bring great changes to the North American powder metallurgy market.
In addition, the development of new energy vehicles also brings new challenges to the international powder metallurgy industry in the future.
(2) Development trend of international powder metallurgy industry technology
In order to meet the needs of the development of the powder metallurgy market and meet the requirements of high strength, high complex shape and multi performance, it is the technical development direction of the international powder metallurgy machine parts production industry. At present, the main means to achieve this goal is to develop new powder metallurgy materials, new powder forming equipment and new forming technology through the joint application of electronic, hydraulic and mechanical technologies. In order to cope with the fierce price competition, we will continue to develop products with high stability and precision and powder metallurgy machine parts with little or no cutting. In order to deal with the global environmental and resource problems, more optimized powder metallurgy production technology and material optimization technology have been adopted.
In 2020, in view of the development demand and market competition of powder metallurgy technology, the Japan Powder Metallurgy Industry Association proposed a roadmap for the development of powder metallurgy technology, named "Innovative next generation powder metallurgy technology - powder metallurgy technology for new and ultra-high performance parts". The innovative plan of powder metallurgy technology is put forward from four aspects of powder compounding, high molding accuracy, high sintering thermal efficiency and integration of other post-processing technologies.
