After liberation and due to historical reasons, the Republic has engaged in a large number of military strategies throughout the country to prepare for famine, dig deep holes and accumulate grain, and carried out a large number of underground bunker construction projects, it is since then that the engineer shovel was officially included in the scope of our army military equipment, there has been no unified, real military engineer shovel, has been using a very common long wooden handle shovel.
1. First generation engineer shovel

The birth of a generation of military engineers shovel can be said to be the need for survival, soldiers found that the ordinary shovel handle is too long, not easy to carry, and easy to expose the target, so the wooden handle was sawed short. Later, this method gradually spread, and the logistics Department at that time, based on the suggestions of many veterans and field observation of many shovels that have been used for many years, added some small changes to the shovel, first of all, a perforated hole was opened in the top end of the wooden handle away from the shovel parallel to the surface of the shovel, and second, according to the wear condition of some old shovels that have been used frequently, the wooden handle was changed into a coarse-fine-coarse streamline shape. Small holes were also added on both sides of the shovel surface. The four small holes are for the use of rope to tie the shovel to the marching bag, which is not easy to drop during armed swimming, intense exercise and long march. The streamlined wooden handle is more suitable for hand grip, and the traditional army green paint is also used.
2. Second generation engineer shovel
The second generation shovel has a lot of army equipment, can be said to be the mainstream engineer shovel. However, due to the very long use time of the first generation shovel, coupled with the fact that our army's equipment is usually fully stocked, many local forces are still generally using the first generation shovel.
The birth of the second-generation shovel was largely based on the Soviet Army engineer shovel, which simply can be folded once, and the handle is changed to a triangular streamline according to the mechanical principle.
3. Third generation engineer shovel
The three generations of shovels are improved to fold twice, the handle is still a triangular streamline, there are shovel, pick, crowbar (spear), saw, knife function, in the production process, a generation of shovels use good steel, but I personally feel that the latter two generations of shovels have not changed much, are good quenched high carbon steel, increase strength, wear resistance, corrosion resistance, high temperature resistance.
