Note: SWRH32~SWRH82B are the grades in JIS G3506. The steel is deoxidized using aluminum-silicon killing.

• Smelting methods

Steel is smelted by an oxygen converter or electric furnace. If the buyer does not specify otherwise, the smelting method is determined by the supplier.

• Delivery status

Wire rod is delivered in hot rolled condition.

• Decarburization layer

Wire rods of SWRH62A~SWRH82A and SWRH62B~SWRH82B steel should be inspected for the depth of the decarburization layer. The depth of the total decarburization layer (ferrite + transition layer) on one side of the wire rod shall not be greater than 1.5% of the nominal diameter of the wire rod.

According to the requirements of the buyer, wire rods of other steels can also be inspected for the depth of the decarburization layer, and the indicators are stipulated by agreement between the supplier and the buyer.

• Microstructure

The wire rod should not have reticular cementite and quenching structures (martensite and troostite areas). If the supplier has guarantees in terms of process, inspection is not required.

• Surface Quality

The surface of the wire rod should be smooth and free of cracks, folds, scars, ears, and other defects that are harmful to use. Indentations and local bumps, pits, scratches, and pits are allowed, but their depth or height (calculated from the actual size): A-level accuracy shall not be greater than 0.15mm; B- and C-level accuracy shall not be greater than 0.10mm.

Harmful defects at the head and tail of the wire rod should be cut off, and the cross-section should be free of shrinkage holes, delaminations, and inclusions.

Oxide scale

The weight of the oxide scale on the surface of the wire rod shall not exceed 7kg/t. If the supplier has guarantees in terms of workmanship, inspection is not required.

• special requirements

According to the requirements of the buyer and upon agreement between the supplier and the buyer, inspections of mechanical properties, grain size, sorbate content, bending test, cold upsetting test, non-metallic inclusions, or other items can be carried out. The indicators shall be stipulated by agreement between the two parties.
