Investment Casting Production Process
In the field of material handling, forklifts are increasingly used in factories, ports and other occasions, warehousing, transportation and other links, known as universal handling tools. With the acceleration of the global economy, the forklift market is also showing a trend of rapid development. The steering knuckle mentioned in this article is a part used in a certain brand of forklift, and its function is that when the forklift is driving on the horizontal road, the forklift wheel swings up and down with the horizontal axis as the center, which can reduce the torsional torque of the frame, make the load of each forklift wheel uniform, and ensure the stability of the forklift. The actual steering knuckle forging is shown in Figure 1, the 3D digital model is shown in Figure 2, and the main dimensions of the forging are shown in Figure 3.

The casting structure and technical requirements of the forklift steering axle were introduced, according to the structural characteristics of the casting, two process schemes were preliminarily formulated, and the numerical simulation software ProCAST was used to analyze the possible position of shrinkage porosity and shrinkage porosity in the casting, and the process was optimized according to the simulation analysis results, and the side risers were added on the left and right sides of the top of the casting, and it was found that the concave at the top of the casting disappeared completely, and the shrinkage porosity and shrinkage porosity defects were also improved to a certain extent. It is found that increasing the pouring temperature can significantly improve the quality of castings, and when the pouring temperature is 1 400°C, the steering axle castings with better performance can be obtained, while the larger pouring speed will increase the defect tendency of castings.
