Leakage and Repair of Stainless Steel Condenser
1. Cause of leakage
(1) Wear and corrosion: Due to long-term use, some impurities and materials in the cooling water wear the steel pipe wall, and the stainless steel condenser needs to be cleaned regularly, which also wears the steel pipe wall to a certain extent.
(2) External force: cracks appear on the casing due to external force during installation or transportation.
(3) The welding quality is not satisfactory: if the leakage occurs at the weld, it is likely to be a welding quality problem. During the welding process, there are slag inclusions, incomplete welds, incomplete penetration, bubbles, etc. Although there is no problem at the beginning, it will show up over time.
(4) The quality of the steel pipe is not good: If it is found that the material between the tubes emerges from the tube opening, it means that the tube wall is damaged, and the material leaks from the tube into the tube, and then emerges from the tube mouth. In this case, if the use time is not long, it is the reason for the poor quality of the steel pipe.
2. Repair method
For some stainless steel condensers with serious tube leakage, it is recommended to replace some or all of the tubes. If more than 10% of the tubes are blocked, the condensation area will be seriously reduced and the efficiency of the stainless steel condenser will be reduced. If the leakage is not so serious, There are several fixes that can be taken.
(1) Welding repair
For example, if there is leakage at the welding seam of the stainless steel condenser, it can be repaired by welding, including the damage to the shell of the stainless steel condenser, which is also repaired by welding. The mark comes, and then surfacing welding in the dent, and finally use the hand grinding wheel to smooth the weld. If the shell has cracks, in order to prevent the cracks from expanding during grinding and welding, two small holes can be drilled at both ends of the cracks with a hand electric drill.
(2) Welding blind plug
If the pipe wall leaks, this method can be used. The specific method is to insert a steel cone plug (cone angle ≈ 7°) into the holes at both ends of the pipe, and then weld the cone plug to the pipe firmly.
(3) Pair pull blind block
To seal the leaky pipe, you can use the opposite pull blind plug. In order to ensure the sealing, the thread should be coated with sealant or wrapped with raw material tape to achieve the purpose of completely blocking. In addition to using sealant, other two methods can also be used. After the nut is tightened, the screw and the end of the bolt are directly welded and sealed; the second is to weld a small section of bamboo on the nut, and after sealing the end, it becomes a special-shaped nut. After the special-shaped nut is tightened, the extended bolt head that comes out is wrapped in the blind pipe. The advantage of this method is that the nut can be tightened and disassembled again.
Regular maintenance of stainless steel condenser
The stainless steel condenser needs to be inspected regularly every year. During the inspection, the exterior of the condenser shell needs to be carefully dusted and anti-corrosion treated. At the same time, the cooling water pipe in the casing should be carefully cleaned (chemical cleaning is used for dirt that cannot be cleaned) and its maintenance.
