SKT4
SKT4 steel has good toughness, strength and high wear resistance. Its mechanical properties are almost the same at room temperature and 500~600℃. When heated to 500°C, it can still maintain a hardness of about HB300.
Characteristics and scope of application
Standard: (JIS 4404)
Because the steel contains molybdenum, it is not sensitive to temper brittleness. After slowly cooling down from 600°C, the impact toughness decreases only slightly.
SKT4 steel has good hardenability. After oil quenching at 820°C and tempering at 560°C, the hardness of each part of the cross-section of a 300mm×400mm×300mm large piece of steel is almost the same.
This kind of steel is used to make various large and medium-sized forging dies.
This kind of steel is easy to form white spots and requires strict control of the smelting process and the cooling system after forging and rolling.

SKT4 lost wax investment casting is suitable for manufacturing various large and medium-sized hammer forging dies and trimming dies with complex shapes, large impact loads, not-too-high working temperatures, and side lengths >400mm. It is used to manufacture simple shapes. The general manufacturing process uses a vacuum refining process to ensure The steel is pure; large-scale professional heat treatment is used to obtain the best pre-hardening effect of the steel and the hardness is evenly distributed.

Note:
1. The quenching heating temperature of large molds adopts the upper limit value, and the small molds (side length below 200~300mm) adopt the lower limit value;
2. In order to avoid large stress and strain during quenching of the hammer forging die, after heating from 830 to 860°C, it is first pre-cooled in the air to 750 to 780°C, and then oil cooled to about 150 to 180°C, taken out and Temper immediately;
3. large molds, should be preheated in a heating furnace at 600 to 650°C, and then the furnace temperature will be raised after heating. In order to heat better, the mold should be placed on a backing plate with a height of 60 to 100mm for heating.
