520M40 is a high-strength alloy steel whose chemical composition is mainly composed of elements such as carbon, chromium, molybdenum, and manganese. 520M40 steel has high strength, hardness, and corrosion resistance, as well as good mechanical properties and toughness. The steel can further improve its properties through heat treatment processes such as normalizing and quenching.
Application
520M40 Lost Wax Investment Castings are mainly used to manufacture high-strength mechanical parts, bearings, blades, gears, and other heavy-duty parts, and are widely used in aviation, automobiles, ships, and other fields. With the continuous emergence of new technologies and new materials, the application scope and market prospects of 520M40 steel will continue to expand.
It should be noted that when using and processing 520M40 steel, appropriate processes and equipment need to be used to ensure its quality and performance. In addition, due to the high hardness of 520M40 steel, it is difficult to process and is not suitable for high-precision processing such as milling.
Advantages: high strength, hardness, good corrosion resistance, good mechanical properties, heat treatable.
Disadvantages: Difficulty in processing and narrow scope of application.
Chemical composition: carbon (0.36% 0.44%), chromium (0.60% 0.90%), molybdenum (0.15% 0.25%), manganese (0.50% 0.80%).
Physical properties: Density is 7.84g/cm³, melting point is 1420~1460℃.
Mechanical properties: tensile strength is about 780MPa, yield strength is about 515MPa, and elongation is 14%~17%. After normalizing or quenching heat treatment, the strength can be further improved.
