What is a car limiter?

The function of the door opening limiter (Door check) is to limit the degree of door opening. On the one hand, it can limit the maximum opening of the door, preventing the door from being opened too far, on the other hand, it can keep the door open when needed, such as when the car is parked on a ramp or when the wind is blowing, the door will not automatically. close. The common door opening limiter is a separate pull-belt limiter, and some limiters are integrated with the door hinge, which usually has a limit function when the door is fully opened or half-opened.
Classification of car limiters

1. Rubber spring type
The working principle is as follows: the limiter bracket is fastened to the vehicle body by a mounting bolt, and the limit box is fastened to the door with two mounting screws. When the door is opened, the limit box will move along the limit arm. Due to the structure of different heights on the limit arm, the elastic rubber block will have different elastic deformation, so that people need to use different forces to close the door when opening the door. At each limit position, it can play a limiting role on the door. This structure is the most widely used at present, and there are many specific forms: some limit arms are stamped structures, some limit boxes use needle rollers, some limit boxes use balls, and some limit boxes use balls. A slider is used in the limit box...but the principle of limit is the same. The advantages of this structure are simple structure, low cost, small occupied space and maintenance-free. The disadvantage is that the requirements for sheet metal are too high. If the hinge strength is not enough, the door will sink, and abnormal noise may occur. After running for a period of time, the limit torque will decrease rapidly. The door stopper of this structure generally has two or three gears. Its maximum torque is about 35N.m, its length is generally about 60mm, and its maximum opening angle is generally below 70 degrees. After the endurance test, the torque change is about 30 %-40%.

2. Torsion spring type
Its working principle is: it is integrated with the hinge and is usually installed on the lower hinge. In the process of closing the door, the torsion bar is deformed to generate different forces to achieve the purpose of limiting the position. This structure is mostly used in the European car market and belongs to the patent of Edscia. The advantages of this structure are low noise, long life, and good limiting effect. The disadvantage is that it occupies a large space, the structure is complex, and the maintenance cost is high. The limiter of this structure generally has two or three gears. Its maximum opening torque is 45N.m, the maximum closing torque is 50N.m, and the maximum opening angle is about 60-65 degrees. After the endurance test, the torque change is about 15% or so.
