Cast Movable Φ10 Wire Rope End Fitting Assembly Introduction

The cast movable Φ10 wire rope end fitting assembly is a standardized component used for connecting and securing the ends of steel wire ropes. It mainly consists of a cast rope head, adjusting nut, baffle plate, pin shaft, and corresponding fasteners. It is suitable for steel wire ropes with a diameter of Φ10mm. Its core feature is the "movable" design, which, through the integrally formed rope head structure and adjustable nut, allows for flexible adjustment of the wire rope tension. It also boasts advantages such as high strength, wear resistance, and easy installation, and is widely used in lifting machinery, elevator equipment, construction hoisting, mining transportation, and other applications requiring reliable rope end connections.

Structure and Function

Cast Rope Head

Made of high-quality carbon steel (such as 45# steel) or alloy structural steel (such as 20CrMnTi) through sand casting or precision casting processes, the head has a bowl-shaped or flared groove to accommodate the wire rope end and is fixed by pouring Babbitt metal (or using wire rope clips for auxiliary locking), ensuring a rigid connection between the rope end and the rope head. The casting process ensures uniform overall mechanical properties of the rope head, avoiding stress concentration from welding, and the rated breaking tensile force is no less than 90% of the minimum breaking tensile force of the wire rope.

Adjusting Nut

It cooperates with the external threaded section at the tail of the rope head. The material is high-strength nut steel (such as 35CrMo), and the surface is heat-treated (hardness HB220-250), possessing wear resistance and deformation resistance. By rotating the nut, it can move axially along the rope head, thereby adjusting the tension of the steel wire rope, suitable for length compensation requirements under dynamic loads.

Baffle Plate and Pin Shaft

The baffle plate is a circular or square metal plate, fixed to the rope head or equipment connection end by a pin shaft, used to limit the axial displacement of the adjusting nut and prevent the nut from loosening under excessive load. The pin shaft is heat-treated to ensure that the shear strength meets the rated load requirements. The diameter of the pin shaft and the diameter of the baffle plate hole are an interference fit, improving connection stability.

Matching fasteners

Includes anti-loosening washers and cotter pins. The anti-loosening washers are made of spring steel, generating pre-tightening force through elastic deformation to prevent the nut from loosening; the cotter pin is inserted into the hole at the end of the pin shaft, further locking the pin shaft and the baffle plate, suitable for safety protection in vibrating environments.

Working Principle

Rope End Fixing

The core of the Φ10mm steel wire rope end is stripped and inserted into the groove of the cast rope head. By pouring Babbitt metal (or filling with epoxy resin), a firm metallurgical bond is formed between the steel wire rope and the rope head, ensuring uniform load transfer.

Tension Adjustment

Rotate the adjusting nut to move it axially along the threaded section of the rope head. Through the contact and compression between the nut and the equipment connection end, the effective working length of the steel wire rope is changed, achieving tension adjustment; after adjustment, the nut position is locked by the baffle plate and the pin shaft.

Load Transfer

During operation, the tensile force borne by the steel wire rope is transferred to the adjusting nut through the rope head, and then transferred to the equipment base through the baffle plate and the pin shaft. The overall structure disperses the axial tensile force into the shear strength of the rope head and the compressive strength of the nut, ensuring a clear and reliable force flow path.

Installation and Maintenance

Installation Steps

(1) Wire rope pretreatment: Cut the rope end flat, remove burrs, and strip the outer strands for a length of 1.5-2 times the rope diameter according to the depth of the rope end groove, retaining the rope core;
(2) Rope end fixing: Insert the treated rope end into the groove of the cast rope end, ensuring even distribution of the strands. Pour Babbitt metal (heated to 450-500℃) into the groove until it overflows. After cooling, remove excess alloy and polish it smooth;
(3) Threaded connection: Screw the adjusting nut onto the threaded section at the end of the rope end, adjust the position according to the required installation length, insert the retaining plate, insert the pin, and then insert and bend the cotter pin to lock it;
(4) Anti-loosening treatment: Install an anti-loosening washer between the nut and the retaining plate. After checking that all fasteners are not loose, perform a pre-tension test (pre-load at 20% of the rated load).

Maintenance Requirements

(1) Regular inspection: Check monthly whether the adjusting nut is loose, whether the pin and cotter pin are deformed, and whether the surface galvanized layer is corroded (if the corroded area exceeds 10%, rust removal and anti-rust paint application are required);
(2) Lubrication and maintenance: Apply lithium-based grease (model ZL-3) to the threaded section every quarter to reduce friction during adjustment;
(3) Load monitoring: When subjected to impact load or exceeding 1.2 times the rated load, non-destructive testing (such as magnetic particle testing) is required to check for cracks in the rope end;
(4) Replacement standard: After more than 2 years of use or a cumulative working time exceeding 5000 hours, it is recommended to replace the pin and anti-loosening washer to ensure safety performance.

Precautions

1. Do not exceed the rated load to avoid rope head fracture caused by impact loads;

2. During installation, ensure that the wire rope is not skewed within the rope head groove to prevent local stress concentration;

3. After locking the adjusting nut, the cotter pin must be fully bent (bending angle ≥90°), and wire should not be used as a substitute;

4. When disassembling and repairing, the load must be unloaded first; operation under load is strictly prohibited;

5. When storing, place in a dry and ventilated place, avoid contact with acid and alkali media to prevent thread corrosion and jamming.
