How To Choose The Position When Casting Steel Castings?

1. The EPC steel casting manufacturer shall try to place the openings on the gasification mold, such as windows, holes and grooves, upward, so as to facilitate sand filling molding and ensure compactness.

2. Processing surface: especially the more important processing surface, it should be placed upward or vertically, because the slag generated by the high-temperature metal liquid in the gasification mold is relatively easy to float to the upper surface of the casting, and the processing surface can be guaranteed. Of course, the ideal of the EPC steel casting manufacturer is to float up to the riser.

3. The large plane of the pattern should be placed vertically or obliquely: the practical experience of EPC steel casting manufacturers in production shows that most of the inclusion defects formed by pores and pyrolysis and gasification residues appear on the upward surface, while the downward surface or side elevation are smooth and clean, and the possibility of defects is very small. For the lost foam mold, such placement can avoid large plane deformation during sand filling molding, and can also prevent the gasification mold from decomposing and vaporizing in a large area after encountering high-temperature metal liquid, so as to suppress the gasification speed, reduce the space between the air gap and the metal liquid mirror, effectively avoid the box collapse defect and ensure the smooth pouring.

4. When selecting the pouring position, it shall also be convenient to open the pouring riser system, slag removal and exhaust passage.

5. When casting castings, EPC steel casting manufacturers usually use bottom pouring (including rain pouring and side lower pouring) gating system. However, since the gasification mold itself is impermeable, the pattern is decomposed by high-temperature metal liquid products and gases during casting. These products and gases are mainly discharged from the gap of molding sand and the gap between the gasification mold and the casting mold, Therefore, vertical or inclined placement is more conducive to the removal of gas and impurities, and avoid sand inclusion and scarring defects.
