3. Open impeller: an impeller with only blades and blade reinforcement ribs, without front and rear cover plates. The number of open impeller blades is less than 2-5. The impeller of a water pump has low efficiency and is rarely used, mainly for conveying liquids with high viscosity and slurry liquids.
The blades of the impeller of a centrifugal pump type water pump are generally backward curved blades. There are two types of blades: cylindrical and twisted.
