Framo Morat's standard catalog of worm gear sets ranges from 20 to 135 mm in diameter and from 17 to 80 mm in axial distance. In addition, we offer custom worm gear sets with diameters up to 300 mm and center distances up to 210 mm.

Material
The worm is case-hardened; the bore and worm flanks are ground. The standard worm wheel is made of VL22, a copper-zinc alloy with aluminum, silicon and manganese additions. This is a special quality from the CuZn40Al2 group according to DIN 17660 for sliding purposes (new product according to EN: CuZn37Mn3Al2PbSi). The aluminum content makes it very chemically resistant.
Plastic Worm Wheels
Due to poor thermal conductivity, plastic worm wheels are only suitable for low sliding speeds of < 1.5 m/s and medium tooth flank loads. The worm must be hardened and must have ground flanks. The torque capacity of plastic worm gears is about 60% of that of comparable bronze worm gears (this applies to use with mineral grease).
